Total Angling's Andy Jones has set up and organised what is scheduled to be an annual event to be held on the river severn entitled "Shrewsbury River Classic"

There will be 4 qualifier heats, entry for each qualifier is £25.00 (any angler may enter more than 1 qualifier). Confirmation of entry and match details will be by post and listed on the Total Angling website. Entry is via a slip that will be printed only in Match Fishing magazine and will be entered on a "First Come First Served Basis". Cheques payable to "Shrewsbury River Classic", Name Address, Postcode, Angler Sponsor (if sponsored?) and Contact Telephone Number is required with each entry on the slip and on the back of the cheque.

All matches will be fished on the quarry and county ground sections.

Each qualifier will be sponsored by two Tackle Manufacturers with generous prizes.

The final will be sponsored by all eight Tackle Manufacturers.

56 Anglers can enter each qualifier, the top four places and four section winners will go through to the final. This will make it a 32 Angler Final. If any Angler has already qualified from a previous qualifying heat then the next relevant placing will go through by default.

*Should the river levels be unsuitable for any of the matches then one of the reserve dates will be used. Notification of any changes will be posted on the Total Angling website.

Qualifier Matches

The qualifier match entry fee is £25.00 per angler. A maximum of 56 anglers can enter each qualifier match. £5.00 from each entry will go towards the Final Payout. The peg fees for the qualifier match is £3.00 and will be paid to the Shropshire Anglers Federation on the conclusion of the event. Payment of prize money will go to the Top Four places and First and Second places in each section. There will be Four Sections of 14 in each match. Sponsor Tackle Prizes will be presented to the Top Four places and First Place in Each of the Four Sections. The Top Four places and First Place in Each of the Four Sections will go through to fish the Final. Therefore the Final will have 32 Anglers. In the Event that an Angler has Qualified In a Previous Round and is in the main frame or section place again, he or she will be presented with the prize money and Sponsor Tackle, but the Next Angler By Default will go through to the Final. 

Qualifier Match Payout

1 x First Place - £260.00, 1 x Second Place - £200.00, 1 x Third Place - £135.00, 1 x Fourth Place - £77.00. 4 x First In Section - £40.00 = £160.00, 4 x Second In Section - £30.00 = £120.00. 56 x £5.00 To Go To The Final Payout = £280.00. Peg Fees of 56 x£3.00 = £168.00 Total Payout Per Qualifier = £1,400.00. 

The Shrewsbury River Classic Final Match

The pools for the Final will be £20.00 per angler. 32 anglers will have qualified. The peg fees for the final will be Nil. Payment of prize money will go to the Top Four places and First and Second places in each section. There will be Four Sections of 8 in the Final. Sponsor Tackle Prizes will be presented to the Top Four places.

Entry  Fee 32 x £20.00 = £640.00, 56 x4 x £5.00 From the 4 Qualifiers To The Final Payout = £1,120.00 Total To Be Paid Out = £1,760.00. 1 x First Place - £500.00, 1 x Second Place - £370.00, 1 x Third Place - £250.00, 1 x Fourth Place - £120.00. 4 x First In Section - £70.00 = £280.00, 4 x Second In Section - £60.00 = £240.00. Peg Fees of 32 x £3.00 = Nil, Total Payout for The Final = £1,760.00.
