Warrior Marker Rod

The new Fox Warrior S Rod range, although set at an entry level price, most certainly do not have an entry level look or feel, and have benefitted from the use of low resin carbons, with the result being the slimmest and lightest Warriors yet.

The 12ft, Fox Warrior S Marker rod, has been stepped up to a 3lb test curve to make it more punchy with an increased tip speed for improved plumbing and feature finding.

Wychwood Dispatch Reel

Whether you need a reel for spodding or feature finding, it is imperative that it does the job properly. It is also worth considering that a spod/marker reel isn't usually used as a fishing reel. It's just a workhorse. It does not need to have the refinements of a fishing reel, it simply needs to be strong and reliable.

The Wychwood Dispatch 7500 Spod/Marker Reel does this job in spades, yet will not break the bank. When you consider that braid costs at least ten quid per 100 metres and there are 200 metres loaded on the reel when you buy it, you are getting one hell of a good deal!!

The Wychwood Dispatch has a bail arm lock that stops it from snapping shut on the cast and causing crack-offs, and the spool is large and wide, which helps you reach those spots at range. It also has 4.3:1 gearing for extra torque, making winding in a spod from long range far easier. The rate of retrieve is also excellent, with more than a metre of line retrieved with every turn of the handle.

There is a decent front drag so that you can use it for marker work, and if push comes to shove, you could actually employ it as a normal fishing reel. Yes, you can use a far more expensive reel for spodding, but do you really need to???
